With most music videos and movies, along with other multimedia, being released on DVD’s nowadays, there is a new storage problem in the modern home. Where do you store them all so that the living room does not look cluttered and untidy? We had CD’s, and VCD’s, and before that cassette tapes and vinyl records, and they all seem to come in varying sizes of boxes or sleeves. For a while no furniture seemed purpose made for those DVD’s that were coming on the scene over recent years.
Fortunately, a good range of purpose designed DVD storage racks have been manufactured now, and are being added to all the time, by specialist manufacturers. Apart from the smaller portable cases, these DVD racks are really items of furniture in their own right. So, like much of the shelving capacity around the home, including cabinets and other units, the racks for DVD’s are designed as much for their attractive appearance as for their practical use.

The DVD racks tend to be similar to those for CD’s, and are sometimes intended to accommodate either. They come in a good variety of shapes and sizes, so finding units that will house all your own DVD collection is not so difficult. They also come in a variety of materials and level of quality, so buying something within your budget should be possible.
Racks with wooden shelving are probably the most common, but stainless steel and chrome racking is also possible to find. Some of the designs are innovative, acknowledging the practical need of finding the DVD you want at a particular time. Spinning, or revolving, DVD stands are made for that reason, and are similar to some you may find in a store when searching for new DVD’s or CD’s. Tall towers are another useful design for making best use of air space rather than valuable floor space.
Some of the simpler shelf style DVD storage racks resemble good old fashioned bookcases, but just as you need bookends to prop up books, you will need something similar to keep these DVD’s from falling down as soon as you turn your back on them.
If you have a home office, and have business DVD’s you want to keep handy, then a desk top rack might be just what you are looking for. Allmultimediastorage have a nice modern titanium rack that will look good on most contemporary desks, and it holds 40 DVD’s in nesting fashion.
